If they think they can do whatever they want with no regards for the rules that everyone else has to follow (permits etc.), they (Trinitas) should not be allowed to do business. They seem
to feel they have some kind of entitlement and don't have to follow county rules. Since the county does nothing to stop them, they just do whatever they want. Not good!
A Calaveras county Director went to the bank with the Nemme's in 2005 to help secure a huge loan for Trinitas saying it was in fact the county that screwed up previous EIR's but that the project will still go through. She does not work there now so of course being left up to this county it got all messed up! I hope one day I can make my money and spend my money here. Trinitas is a step in that direction.

I do not live there so my opinion may be questioned. But it is not about the project for me...it is about the process. My personal experience with the county under Moreno was that I got no answer, the wrong answer or a confusing answer. I believe the Nemees did as well. It is true they may have taken advantage of the County's inability to do their job but that is not a crime. The county and the developer should come together to see if under the right circumstances and with the proper process this project could work. Punitive measures seem both unfair and inappropriate.
I also have experienced what Betsy describes with the county. I've seen others also. In my case we had several instances of this and it held back our project almost to the point of ruining the project altogether. There was a lot of disagreement between county employees. In some instances we asked for the guidelines and told it was up to their personal opinion. Try to make sure you build according to an opinion you don't know. Not very fun.
I've seen others go through the same. It's made it really difficult at times to do a legitimate business here.

This project should have been approved or denied 2 years ago. The County botched the original DEIR preparation, screwed the owners out of almost $100,000., and requested the project proponents privately fund a DEIR for which they had already made a substantial payment for the County to prepare. The delays and County mishandling of this project have been unfair to all concerned. I am well of the trials and tribulation within the County's planning department but honestly, the community and the proponents of Trinitas have paid a huge cost as a consequence. I am quite familiar with this project and considering the many very intensive developments proposed and or in the process of being built in and around Valley Springs, the Trinitas project is rather a non-project. The County has no basis for denying this project...none whatsoever; beyond the fact that some local people disapprove of it. I think it is fair to ask if those disapproving of Trinitas have also publicly voiced disapproval of the dozen or so other Valley Springs subdivisions in various stages of planning and development. Moreover, if they have not disapproved, why was that the case.

We should be totally thankful for the Nemees for bringing this real jem to the county. Mitigation is what some call "fines", and the mitigation steps will themselves help the county immensely: water pipeline to the west county, and significant improvements to Ospital Road.
They did what the county allowed, so let's get on with life and reap the benefits without this incredibly vicious character assassination.
It is my understanding that the Nemees did everything they were told to do by the county. The mistakes that may have been made were most likely made by the county. It is absurd how long it takes to get anything approved in this county. I believe it took three years for Stone Corral Community Church to get a use permit to build a new church at their existing location. Ridiculous. From talking to many people, I get the feeling that Tom Tryon and John Kautz run this county. Since there was no direct benefit to them, it was shot down. Yet, I wonder how many out-of-towners might want to go wine tasting or see a concert after playing golf at Trinitas?
Question: Williamson Act? Is Trinitas in the Williamson Act? Is Ironstone? They both should not.
